Hey everyone, Now that all the major bugs on Switch have been ironed out, I’d like to talk about player concerns regarding the Nintendo Switch release and the studio.

For our Nintendo Switch release, I want to take the time to personally say sorry to all the fans who ran into issues during the launch. There were a lot of folks who were let down, and it was heartwrenching to see excited players affected by bugs. We moved as fast as we could to fix the issues, but the patching process took longer than expected.

Due to our lack of experience with porting games to Nintendo Switch, we made some mistakes, and I’d like to talk about how we can do better next time. First, we’ll be looking to work with larger QA firms to help us run more testing before major releases to ensure a smoother launch. We also learned that the platform doesn’t support rolling back to a previous version, so we’ll be submitting every patch multiple times as a workaround. This should reduce the time it takes to rollback, to an hour instead of a whole week. We also learned a lot of ways to better optimize a game, which we can apply to all our future games.

Another concern we’ve heard from players is about Sun Haven’s release of DLCs. Sun Haven DLCs will always be purely cosmetic, never affect gameplay, and are completely optional. The DLCs go directly towards supporting the people working on Sun Haven. While cosmetic DLCs aren’t for everyone, they are a way for fans to continue supporting the team.

There have also been rumors about the studio contracting underpaid artists from outside of the United States. To set the record straight, everyone receives competitive US-based pay. As an art led game studio, we care deeply about working with the best pixel artists, no matter where they are from.

We’ve also been very lucky to have a growing community of helpful players. We’d like to say a big thank you by dedicating a section on our website to Community Contributors. This section will highlight players who’ve gone above and beyond to help improve Sun Haven. They’ll be added alongside the Developer Credits, which will list all the developers who helped bring Sun Haven to life. I know these are long overdue, and we’re excited to be finishing them now.

I want to say thank you for everyone’s patience, understanding, and support. I hope this clears up some concerns and gives more transparency. I’m going to make sure that we’re doing our best, both in the game and outside of it. There is a lot to look forward to this year, and we’ve been hard at work on the next Sun Haven update and we should have some good news to share soon!
